The United States has seized 300 tons of chemicals used in the production of methamphetamine. Federal authorities believe the source is China, and the shipment was destined for the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico.
Washington State Attorney General Janine Pirro and Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement Todd Lyons described the operation as “the largest seizure of precursor chemicals for drugs ever conducted by the United States.”
At a warehouse in Pasadena, Texas, Pirro said: “These two shipments of chemicals were transported on two different ships on the high seas and sent to the Sinaloa cartel in Mexico… from China to Mexico.”
