The Eastern Province Municipality signed today (Wednesday) a memorandum of understanding and cooperation with Rawdat Ikram Association in the Eastern Province. The agreement aims to improve services provided at mortuary centers and official cemeteries in the Eastern Province, enhancing integration between the governmental and non-profit sectors and contributing to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The memorandum was signed on behalf of the municipality by the Eastern Province Governor Engineer Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Jubeir, and on behalf of the association by the Chairman of the Board Abdulhakim bin Hamad Al-Amar Al-Khalidi.
The memorandum aims to enhance the quality of services at mortuary centers, including developing the centers and improving service efficiency in accordance with Islamic teachings, promoting volunteer work culture, supporting community participation, qualifying and training workers in mortuary washing in line with the Sunnah, developing and maintaining cemeteries, implementing necessary development projects, and supporting the transfer and burial of non-Muslims according to approved policies and regulations.
The memorandum includes cooperation in several areas: the municipality provides technical and logistical support and facilitates the association’s participation in its volunteer programs and annual plans, while Rawdat Ikram Association undertakes the development of centers and cemeteries, training staff, preparing awareness and media materials, and contributing to improving infrastructure.
Engineer Fahad Al-Jubeir noted that this partnership reflects the municipality’s keenness to develop municipal and social services and improve the quality of life for citizens and residents. He pointed out that cooperation with the non-profit sector is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development and enhancing public service efficiency, emphasizing the municipality’s continuous support for initiatives and community cooperation to advance municipal services.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Rawdat Ikram Association expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Eastern Province Municipality for its ongoing support of the association’s initiatives, noting that this memorandum represents an important step to enhance community integration, improve mortuary and cemetery services, and expand volunteer work in this field.
