Ashraf Sobhy, the Minister of Youth and Sports, revealed that changes will be made to the technical staff of Egypt’s youth national team led by Osama Nabih following their exit from the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
During a televised interview on On Sport channel, Sobhy stated: “We are not satisfied with the performance at the U-20 World Cup, and Hani Abou Rida informed me that changes will be made to the youth team’s technical staff to prepare for participation in the 2028 Olympics. We will not allow failure regardless of the reasons. The youth team includes excellent players, and this generation will be the foundation for the future.”
The Egyptian Football Association’s board decided to refer the fate of Osama Nabih, the youth team coach, to the technical committee chaired by Hassan Shehata, which includes several Egyptian football legends.
The technical committee will decide on Osama Nabih’s future with the youth team, which will soon become the Olympic team that will compete in the qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The committee is set to review Nabih’s performance with the team so far. It had previously expressed support for the coaching staff to continue their work to avoid a piecemeal approach and to allow them to work without pressure.
