Dr. Hossam Al-Dajani, a political science professor, confirmed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not easily overturn the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement, pointing out that US President Donald Trump saved Israel from itself through his decisive intervention to reach an agreement formula that ends the war ongoing for two years.
Al-Dajani explained during a phone interview on the program “Hadith Al-Qahira” with journalist Hind Al-Daawi, aired on Cairo and Al-Nas channel, that current negotiations differ from previous ones, where Palestinian resistance previously showed readiness for dialogue while the occupation refused. This time, “the paper presented by Trump was formulated precisely so that Hamas cannot easily say yes or no.”
He noted that Hamas’s rejection of the paper would have given the Trump administration justification to grant Israel legitimacy to continue its military operation, while acceptance would exclude Hamas from the upcoming political scene.
The political science professor added that Hamas’s recent statement was balanced and focused on core issues such as prisoner release and Israeli withdrawal, noting that the Sharm El-Sheikh negotiations played an important role in reaching the final agreement.
He concluded by saying, “Trump does not act without goals; he saved Israel from a serious political and military crisis, while simultaneously seeking to achieve a historic accomplishment that could nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
