Major General Dr. Reda Farhat, Vice President of the Conference Party and Professor of Political Science, stated that the upcoming international summit in Sharm El-Sheikh to support the implementation of the Gaza agreement, attended by US President Donald Trump and several Arab and international leaders, represents a pivotal moment in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It is a real opportunity to rebuild trust among regional and international powers after a long period of turmoil and tension. He pointed out that holding the summit in Egypt carries significant political meaning, confirming that Cairo remains the central actor in the security and peace equation in the Middle East.
Farhat added that Egyptian diplomacy, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, has demonstrated exceptional ability to manage complex crises in the region with rationality and balance. He emphasized that President El-Sisi’s political firmness was the decisive factor that prevented the region from sliding into new chaos at a time when the voices of arms were the loudest. He noted that Egypt moved steadily in defense of the legitimate Palestinian right and rejected from the first moment all attempts at displacement or liquidation of the cause.
The Vice President of the Conference Party explained that the upcoming summit in Sharm El-Sheikh is an extension of Egypt’s historic role in supporting just and comprehensive peace. It is a strong message to the world that Egypt is not seeking a role but exercises it by virtue of its regional and historical responsibility, and that any just and lasting solution cannot be achieved except through Cairo, which possesses trust, capability, and balanced relations with all parties.
The political science professor pointed out that the summit represents a new window of hope to revive the peace process and an opportunity to reaffirm the Egyptian and Arab constants that there can be no stability in the region without establishing an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Egypt will continue to raise the banner of just peace and work for the security of the region and the stability of its peoples.
