Abu Youssef, 61 years old, suffers from lung cancer, kidney diseases, and high blood pressure, and had a stroke affecting the movement of his right hand and leg. He has been receiving treatment at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi since 2019. However, the expiration of his health insurance card and his inability to renew it due to financial constraints prevent him from continuing his treatment. He needs 9,106 dirhams to renew the card but cannot afford this amount. He has appealed to kind-hearted people for assistance to continue his treatment. Abu Youssef recounted his suffering, stating that his problems began in December 2019 with sudden shortness of breath, chest pain that worsened with breathing, and coughing up blood. Initially, he thought these were minor symptoms, but the pain increased, leading to hospitalization and urgent surgery to remove malignant tumors from his lung. He underwent chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
After some improvement, he was advised to continue regular check-ups and medication. In 2020, he suffered a stroke that left him bedridden for 40 days and forced him to quit his job, which was his only income source supporting his wife and four children. In May of this year, he was unable to renew his health insurance, leading to a deterioration in his health. Medical reports confirm his need for injections, medications, and regular follow-ups. Lung cancer symptoms often do not appear early, leading to late diagnosis.
