Abuhanan, 56 years old, suffers from kidney failure in addition to chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol. His condition has recently worsened, requiring regular dialysis sessions at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi. He needs to renew his health insurance card at a cost of 23,800 AED to continue receiving regular treatment, but his difficult financial situation prevents him from covering the renewal cost.
The medical report issued by Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital stated that “the patient is 56 years old, suffering from severe kidney failure, and requires permanent dialysis to control his health condition.”
Abuhanan shared his story of suffering with the disease with Emarat Al Youm, saying: “My health deteriorated significantly more than 15 years ago after I was diagnosed with diabetes, which caused other diseases including high blood pressure and cholesterol, and I became in constant need of medication.”
He added: “Two years ago, I felt pain on the right side of my abdomen, so I went to the emergency department at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital. Tests showed kidney dysfunction and suspected kidney failure, but the doctor reassured me that there might be an error in the test results and asked me to retake tests after a week. He prescribed some medications, painkillers, and anti-inflammatory drugs.”
He continued: “I kept taking the medications and felt some improvement, but later I suffered complications that led to my hospitalization for several days where I received necessary medical care. During that period, tests confirmed kidney failure, and the specialist doctor confirmed that I immediately need dialysis sessions and must adhere to my medications continuously. He also warned that neglect could endanger my life and advised me to follow a healthy diet to maintain my immunity.”
Abuhanan concluded: “I need to renew my health insurance card costing 23,800 AED, but my family and I cannot afford even a small part of this amount. I am unemployed due to illness and the sole provider for my family of three children and a wife.”
The patient appeals to kind-hearted people and generous hands to help him cover the cost of renewing his health insurance card to continue his treatment amid his deteriorating health condition.
