“Whoever loves his brother has established himself in the light”… With this evangelical spirit, the Papal Projects Office, one of the main arms of the Coptic Orthodox Church in service and humanitarian work, operates to make love for humanity a practical approach and development a way of life.

The Papal Projects Office was established under the guidance and care of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, aiming to transform the Church’s message from merely spiritual service to comprehensive development that touches the lives of citizens across various governorates. It supports vulnerable groups through small projects, women’s empowerment programs, youth qualification for the labor market, alongside active participation in national initiatives launched by the Egyptian state.

The office works according to a clear vision based on empowering individuals, developing local communities, and expanding developmental partnerships. Its activities extend from poor villages in Upper Egypt to popular areas in Cairo and Alexandria, where it has launched many initiatives to improve living standards.

Key initiatives include financing micro-projects for low-income families, providing real job opportunities for youth, restoring old homes, and connecting utilities for needy families. The office also organizes health, social, and psychological awareness programs to build productive citizens who actively participate in society.

In support of women, the office implements training programs on handicrafts and home industries, providing marketing channels for products in cooperation with the National Council for Women and the Ministry of Social Solidarity. It also dedicates programs for family education and psychological and spiritual support for women to face life’s challenges, based on the Church’s belief in women’s role as a key partner in development.

Youth receive significant attention through initiatives like “Start Your Path,” which targets qualifying youth for the labor market and trains them in entrepreneurship, alongside psychological and professional counseling programs that help them discover their abilities and talents. Church youth also participate in state initiatives such as “Decent Life” and “Egypt Without Illiteracy,” emphasizing the integration between the Church and state institutions in serving citizens.

The Papal Projects Office confirms its national presence through cooperation with major national initiatives, including “100 Million Health,” “Starty,” and “Start with Yourself,” all aiming to improve the quality of life for Egyptian citizens across health, social, and economic aspects.

The office also focuses on education by establishing technical and vocational education projects within monasteries and churches to qualify youth for market-needed crafts, alongside offering scholarships to outstanding students in poor areas and supporting non-formal education centers for children deprived of schooling.

The Papal Projects Office continues organizing cultural events and exhibitions of Coptic books and arts within church and monastery premises to preserve the spiritual and cultural heritage for new generations and connect them to their authentic Coptic identity.

The ultimate goal of the Papal Projects Office is to serve humans in all dimensions—physical, mental, and spiritual—based on the words of Jesus Christ: “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was a stranger and you took me in.” Through its diverse projects, the Coptic Church continues its humanitarian mission as a genuine partner in nation-building and a constant source of hope and support for those in need.
